Very dry and tannic, this Zin needs rich, fatty fare to wake it up. By itself it makes your mouth numb, and the high alcohol feels hot and peppery. But there’s a lot of rich blackberry and cherry stuff going on. Throw some meat on the grill, get it good and charred, and the wine will work.  — S.H.  (11/1/2008)
