Peter Lehmann 1996 Stonewell Shiraz (Barossa)

  1. $75
A standout Stonewell, the 1996 still appears to have a decade or more of life still ahead of it. Smoke and mint notes mark the slightly closed nose, then layers of wonderfully creamy black cherry fruit flow across the palate. Yet despite the lush mouthfeel, the wine still comes across as structured on the long finish. Drink now–2020.  — J.C.  (11/1/2007)

Peter Lehmann 2001 Stonewell Shiraz (Barossa)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $90
A great vintage for Lehmann’s top Shiraz, the 2001 Stonewell boasts incredibly dense, rich, chocolate-fudge-like aromas. This is extremely ripe and opulent without ever going over the edge. Balanced, lush and complete. Drink now–2015.  — J.C.  (11/1/2007)

Peter Lehmann NV Classic Muscat (Barossa)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $25
Fortified Muscats from the Barossa are rare these days, but this is a delicious stickie well worth trying. It delivers cherry-scented toffee and toasted walnuts on the nose, then adds caramel to the mix. It’s nicely balanced between fruit and nutty complexity.  — J.C.  (11/1/2011)

Peter Lehmann 2005 Eight Songs Shiraz (Barossa)

  1. $38
This full-bodied, richly textured Shiraz is ready to drink, with slightly lifted aromas of plums and baking spices and a velvety mouthfeel. Long and supple on the finish, it should continue to drink well through at least 2018.  — J.C.  (11/1/2011)

Peter Lehmann 2006 Mentor Cabernet Sauvignon (Barossa)

  1. $38
Full bodied and richly tannic, Lehmann’s 2006 Mentor is dark, chocolaty and intense, with further nuances of cassis and cigar box. The finish is chewy and juicy, simultaneously drying and mouthwatering. Drink 2015–2023.  — J.C.  (5/1/2012)

Peter Lehmann 1998 Stonewell Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

  1. $75
Sturdy, masculine and sexy. This excellent Shiraz’s fruit core glows bright red (plum, cherry) but all of its bells and whistles—among them soil, black olive, blackberry—are dark as night. Unfolds with air to reveal streaks of cassis and mint as well. Medium-long and juicy on the finish. Drink through 2010. Imported by The Hess Collection.  — D.T.  (8/1/2005)

Peter Lehmann 2004 Mentor Cabernet Sauvignon (Barossa)

  1. $38
Classically styled Barossa Cabernet, with plenty of weight and texture, its rich chocolate and cassis aromas and flavors backed by just a touch of mint. Finishes long, with velvety tannins that should begin to settle by 2010 and keep it evolving through 2020.  — J.C.  (12/1/2008)

Peter Lehmann 2004 Stonewell Shiraz (Barossa)

  1. $90
The price keeps creeping up, but at least this is one Australian wine that consistently delivers vintage after vintage. The 2004 offers classic aromas of cassis, cinnamon and clove, with a touch of cracked pepper for good measure. It's full-bodied without going overboard, with a rich texture and a long, clean finish filled with complex spice notes. Good now, should…  — J.C.  (11/1/2008)
