Phillips Hill 2007 Corby Vineyard Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley)

  1. $40
This is a new bottling for Phillips Hill, and a promising one. Immediately drinkable and likeable for its silky texture and complex, interesting flavors of cherries, cola, rhubarb, orange peel, pomegranates, sandalwood and Asian spices. Just beautiful, and should develop through 2013.  — S.H.  (8/1/2009)

Phillips Hill 2008 Beeson Tree Pinot Noir (Anderson Valley)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $40
From a winery that’s piling up an impressive record with Mendocino Pinot Noir comes this crisp, silky wine. It’s light in color and deceptively light in body, in the way of some great Burgundies that age effortlessly, even when you think they won’t. Dry and pure, it has sweetly complex wild cherry, raspberry, cola and smoky oak flavors. Fine now, and could really…  — S.H.  (11/1/2010)

Phillips Hill 2010 Ridley Vineyard Chardonnay (Anderson Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
Tasted among a flood of sweet, oaky Chardonnays, this one’s a welcome winner. It’s dry and crisp in acidity, and while there’s plenty of pear, orange and papaya fruit, it also has a rocky minerality that grounds the richness. The alcohol is refreshingly low.  — S.H.  (12/15/2011)
