Pietra Santa 2005 Signature Collection Cabernet Sauvignon (Cienega Valley)

  1. $50
This is the best Cabernet this winery has yet produced. It’s dry and complex, with good varietal flavors of blackberries, black currants and cedar, and the tannins are ripe and sweet. Shows real promise for this San Benito County winery.  — S.H.  (11/1/2009)

Pietra Santa 2007 Pinot Noir (Cienega Valley)

  1. $20
What a pleasure it was to discover this Pinot from Pietra Santa, which has struggled in the past with Pinot Noir. Rich in cherries, mocha, licorice and cedar flavors, it’s dry and balanced with firm tannins and crisp acidity, but always maintains its silkiness.  — S.H.  (11/1/2009)

Pietra Santa 2010 Unoaked Chardonnay (Cienega Valley)

Nothing but fruit in this Chardonnay, and what pretty fruit it is. Really delicious in pineapple, peach, lemon, lime, green melon and vanilla flavors, with fine acidity.  — S.H.  (11/1/2011)

Pietra Santa 2001 Chardonnay (Cienega Valley)

Light textured, fresh and lemony, the wine has a sublte touch of toast and herb flavors. Hints of melon, pear and apple round off the flavors. It finishes with a fresh mineral edge.  — J.M.  (6/1/2003)

Pietra Santa 2002 Vache Cabernet Sauvignon (Cienega Valley)

  1. $40
If your standard for Cab is Napa, and mine is, this wine is more tannic, acidic and grippy. It does show similar flavors, of enormously ripe, chocolate-tinged blackberry, cassis, cherry and soy-tabasco flavors, but then there’s that ruggedness. It may be one for the cellar, but it’s hard to tell. I’m giving it the benefit of a doubt.  — S.H.  (6/1/2007)

Pietra Santa 2010 Signature Collection Amore Pinot Grigio (Cienega Valley)

  1. $24
There’s no oak on this wine, so it depends on the natural flavors of the grapes. And how good they are. Rich and opulent in pineapples, lemons, oranges, honeysuckle flowers and vanilla, the wine is brightened with crisp acidity.  — S.H.  (11/1/2011)

Pietra Santa 2006 Amore Pinot Grigio (Cienega Valley)

  1. $20
The appellation is in San Benito County, a terroir that has plenty of coastal influence. Acidity and ripeness are the stars in this bright, expressive, dry but fruity wine, with pineapple, lime and honeysuckle flavors. Try as an interesting alternative to Sauvignon Blanc or Viognier.  — S.H.  (12/31/2007)

Pietra Santa 2005 Zinfandel (Cienega Valley)

  1. $15
This wine shows the rustic, wild side of Zin, with briary flavors of freshly picked blackberries, cherries and raspberries and exotic notes of tar, licorice, cola, pepper and pine. The dry, dusty tannins will pair well with grilled meats.  — S.H.  (9/1/2008)
