Planeta 2006 Burdese Red (Sicilia)
Price
$40
Spice, chocolate, blackberry and dark fruit come across with determination and intensity. Burdese is a modern, Bordeaux-inspired blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with bright fruit flavors, fresh acidity, natural succulence and warm spice flavors on the close.

Planeta 2007 Santa Cecilia Nero d’Avola (Sicilia)
Online Exclusive
Price
$40
A fine wine at an approachable price, Santa Cecilia (a pure expression of Nero d’Avola) is a study in the best of Sicilian winemaking. This ruby-colored red is redolent of mature fruit, blackberry, Mediterranean herbs and toasted pistachio. The wine is firm and structured but soft and generous on the palate.

Planeta 2010 Cometa Fiano (Sicilia)
Price
$43
Cometa is an irresistible white wine from the deep south of Italy. It speaks its own Sicilian language but with modern, international accents. Made from Fiano grapes, it opens with a beautiful golden color, and delivers rich aromas of stone fruit, vanilla cream and rose. The mouthfeel is exceedingly soft, creamy and long-lasting.

Planeta 2010 Moscato (Passito di Noto)
Price
$41
Planeta was among the first to bring this delicious sweet wine to the United States and demonstrate that great Sicilian dessert wines hail from places besides Pantelleria. There’s a light, buoyant quality that is enhanced by fragrant floral tones of jasmine, honeysuckle and peach blossom. There’s no better pairing for sweet almond cookies.

Planeta 2008 Moscato (Passito di Noto)
Price
$40
This luminous Passito di Noto (a dessert wine from Sicily made with air-dried grapes) offers bright and defined aromas of orange and almond blossoms, honey, dried apricot and sweet summer fruit. There’s a touch of piquant spice and acidity to break through the wine’s natural sweetness and thickness.

Planeta 2007 Moscato di Noto (Sicilia)
Price
$40
Planeta’s precious Moscato di Noto is always a pleasure to drink. This vintage is no exception; the wine is wonderfully generous and redolent of honey, apricot and bright yellow rose. It excels in the mouth, thanks to its perfect balance of sugar and acidity.

Planeta 2009 Cometa Fiano (Sicilia)
Online Exclusive
Price
$40
Aromas of peach, honeysuckle and almond are irresistible but the wine really excels in the mouth where it imparts opulent density and richness. This wine is an absolute pleasure to drink. A beautiful Sicilian wine that would pair with shellfish, crab cakes or white meat.

Planeta 2003 Santa Cecilia Nero d’Avola (Sicilia)
Cellar Selection
Price
$43
This is a delicate, polished and graceful wine that paints one of the most attractive portraits yet of the Nero d’Avola grape. Although some have criticized the fact its alcohol has increased over the last few years (now 14.5%), I would argue that its power is well integrated within its multifaceted and well-composed whole. Imported by Vias Imports.
