Poggio alla Sala 2004 Riserva Prugnolo Gentile (Vino Nobile di Montepulciano)

  1. $27
This is a cheerful and fun Vino Nobile Riserva that is extremely redolent of sweet spice, fresh cherries and vanilla. It exhibits excellent ripeness and concentration and a rich, bold personality. It imparts rich flavors of black cherry and succulent tannins in the mouth.  — M.L.  (6/1/2008)

Poggio alla Sala 2006 Parceto Prugnolo Gentile (Vino Nobile di Montepulciano)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $29
Parceto is an earthy, resiny wine with loads of ripe fruit and dark spice elements. Smoke, mesquite and barbecue tones come though on the wine’s long, but not overly intense fade.  — M.L.  (4/1/2011)

Poggio alla Sala 2005 Prugnolo Gentile (Vino Nobile di Montepulciano)

  1. $20
There’s a pretty sweet cherry and vanilla vein that runs through this darkly saturated Vino Nobile giving it a fun, easy-going personality. It offers good structure, with firm tannins and a long-lasting finish that imparts lingering tones of red cherry and spice. Founded in 1856, this is one of Montepulciano’s oldest and most historic estates.  — M.L.  (6/1/2008)
