Pretty-Smith 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles)
-
$18
HereÕs a classic Paso Cabernet, with its ripe, juicy berry and stone fruit flavors, soft, pliant acids, and rich, velvety tannins. Nicely dry, itÕs the sort of wine you can play with in your mouth and discover wave after wave of delicious flavors. ItÕs fun but serious, that rarest of things, a versatile Cabernet.

Pretty-Smith 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles)

Nice and easy Cab, soft and pleasantly fruity, and you’d never guess its age because it tastes so fresh. Blackberries, cherries, chocolate and licorice, in a smooth, velvety texture.

Pretty-Smith 1999 Merlot (California)
-
$18
Once upon a time this would be have a perfectly fine $8 wine. Now, itÕs an $18 wine, but itÕs still a nice drink. ItÕs very dry, and balances blackberry flavors with less ripe herbal ones, resulting in some complexity. The finish is dry and fruity-spicy. Soft in acids, but the rich tannins add structure and spine.

Pretty-Smith 1999 Cabernet Franc (Paso Robles)

$18
Normally a blending wine, because on its own this varietal offers sweetness and frangrance without accompanying body and depth, and this wine shows why. ItÕs pretty as a picture, with black raspberry flavors and soft tannins, but it seems to need a center of gravity, especially at this price.
