Prieler 2004 Schützner Stein Red (Burgenland)
Cellar Selection
Price
$52
The 600-foot Schützner Stein broods over the Neusiedlersee, a great place to grow Blaufränkisch. Blended with Merlot, this is impressive, a powerhouse of dense tannins and black fruit. The acidity shows through, but the wine is as much about extreme concentration. It needs aging, over 5 years and more.

Prieler 2009 Blaufränkisch (Leithaberg)
Still young and still dominated by new wood, this will develop into a powerful and serious wine. All the right black fruits and acidity are there. The wine has richness and fine aging potential. Keep for 3–4 years.

Prieler 2005 Johanneshöhe Blaufränkisch (Burgenland)
Price
$24
Aged in large wooden casks, this is a supple, fresh style of wine, beautifully crafted from Blaufränkisch, showing the varietal’s blueberry and cranberry flavors, along with a firm, tannic and mineral note.

Prieler 2008 Blaufränkisch (Leithaberg)
The initial impression is of black fruits, chocolate and coffee flavors. These delicious tastes are supported by structure, intense tannins and juicy acidity. Age this elegant Blaufränkisch for another two years.

Prieler 2005 Pinot Noir (Burgenland)
Price
$66
A sensuously Burgundian style of Pinot Noir, the tannins and wood aging a mere seasoning for the rich, but round, soft fruits. Great red berries, along with cherries, leave a layer of acidity.

Prieler 2010 Pinot Blanc (Leithaberg)
A soft and creamy wine, neutral in character. Fruit flavors show through gently—rounded white fruits with signs of toast and some fresh acidity to finish.
