Proemio 2006 Reserve Malbec (Mendoza)
Online Exclusive
Price
$19
A fine value among moderately aged Malbecs. Smells like a well-grilled steak along with earthy berry and dry oak. Feels fresh and pure, with proper balance and a lively mix of toast, coconut, blackberry, spice and textured tannins. Compact and just right on the finish. 500 cases made; excellent for under $20.

Proemio 2006 Barrel Selection Red Wine (Mendoza)
Price
$53
Red berry aromas with spice and licorice shadings make for a good opening. The wine smacks down hard on the palate, creating a clacky feel to go with plum, berry, herb and spice flavors. Serious and full, with juiciness, grabby tannins and a toasty coffee-laden finish. Malbec, Syrah and Merlot.

Proemio 2003 Reserve Malbec (Mendoza)
Price
$22
Regal and ready, and showing equal amounts of early maturity along with youthful fruit and menthol aromas. The palate is saturated with raspberry and black cherry, while the lengthy finish offers coffee and chocolate. Drive and power are not in short supply, so take this one with fatty foods like ribs or steak.

Proemio 2006 Grand Reserve Winemaker's Selection Red (Mendoza)
Price
$26
Somewhat rustic on the nose, with baked, herbal lead aromas bringing side scents of tree bark and earthy berry. Tightly wound and tannic in the mouth, with cola, spice and chocolaty flavors. Dry, focused and composed as it makes its point.

Proemio 2009 Chardonnay (Mendoza)
Online Exclusive
Price
$12
Light, lemony aromas come with a hint of buttercup. The palate is basic, wet and juicy, with average citrus and apple flavors. Finishes solid and mostly fresh, with generic sweet apple and melon notes along with some weight.
