Plum, cassis and lemon peel add zest to the nose, while the palate is easygoing, not too tannic, and full of honest cassis, black cherry and plum flavors. Better to just enjoy as opposed to pondering; there’s not a ton of complexity or follow-through but it tastes good and seems well made.

Friendly, easygoing Cabernet in which almost everyone will be able to find something good. The nose is medicinal and cherry driven, while the palate has good feel, acidic grab and flavors of red fruits, herbs and tomato sauce. Nothing special; just plain good-drinking, affordable CS.

Full, honest aromas of brandied cherry, woodspice and cola are inviting, while the palate is thorough and lively, with good acidity and tannic grip. Flavors of black cherry and cassis are correct and finish with an herbal note and a hint of black olive.

Forward on the nose, with mild varietal green notes along with plum, vanilla and cola. The palate has medium depth and no jagged or sharp angles, while the flavors of cola, baked berry and chocolate are true and expressive. Standard length and character to the finish, with a touch of herbal essence.

Crusty and peppery aromas blend with wild berry and herbal scents to create a very nice opening. The palate is tight and healthy, with black currant, dark cherry and plum flavors. Despite controlled herbal notes, this is very good Merlot for the money.

Brick dust, dry earth, berry and spice aromas comprise the mild, moderately complex bouquet. On the palate, it feels lively and edgy, with flavors of tobacco, wood, pepper and earthy red fruit. It’s spicy, drying, warm and fairly long on the finish.

Meaty, condensed and full of understated plum and berry fruit. This is a nice bargain Merlot with currant, plum and pepper for flavors, and then a dash of mellow coffee on the finish. With solid core flavors and an integrated mouthfeel, it ranks as a positive wine for the money.

A good, simple Carmenère with burnt rubber and crusty fruit aromas sitting in front of young, rubbery cassis and berry flavors. Not a whole lot of the variety’s herbal, saucy side; instead it’s a short, clean wine that’s fresh and easy to drink.
