This is a dense, intense wine, a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Alicante Bouchet. It is firmly tannic, but there is plenty of powerful fruit as well. Dark fruit flavors give depth and concentration. This is a fine wine, which will repay several years aging.

This wine feels big and burly, its tannins powering through the fruit. It has a strong structure, firm black plums, the acidity giving a lift to the weight of dark fruits. It needs aging, over the next 4–5 years.

A blend of Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz, fermented in open lagers with new barrique aging. All that goes to make a mature, superripe wine, with intense violet and vanilla perfumes, packed with blackberry flavors and dark, brooding, dry tannins. Age for five years.

Quinta de Chocapalha 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (Lisboa)
The climate of the region north of Lisbon is oceanic, as in Bordeaux, so it’s no surprise that Cabernet Sauvignon works well here. The wine has tannins and black currant flavors, along with a very ripe character giving weight.

With its addition of 10% Syrah, this is a deliciously rounded wine, the Cabernet firmness mellowed into mature, ripe fruit. The acidity gives it shape, the tannins act as a focus for the rich fruit.
