Reina de Castilla 2009 Isabelino Verdejo-Viura (Rueda)

  • Best Buy
  1. $9
Maybe it’s the Viura, becuase this $9 wine seems cleaner, rounder and slightly better than the winery’s higher-priced pure Verdejos. Look for generic but fresh peach and citrus aromas and then lip-smacking citrus flavors. Finishes composed and clean, with lasting grapefruit flavor. 60% Verdejo and 40% Viura.  — M.S.  (4/1/2011)

Reina de Castilla 2009 El Bufón Verdejo (Rueda)

  1. $12
Full and blowsy for Verdejo, with orange, grapefruit and minerally aromas. The palate is zesty, with orange, tangerine and passion fruit flavors. With pretty good fruit character, adequate acidity and a slick-feeling finish, this is a good effort that should be drunk right away.  — M.S.  (4/1/2011)

Reina de Castilla 2009 Verdejo (Rueda)

  1. $14
Aromas of pineapple, cider and citrus are good but basic. It’s fleshy and soft in the mouth (call it pulpy) with mild grapefruit, passion fruit and tropical melon flavors. Finishes soft, chunky and pithy. Drink ASAP.  — M.S.  (4/1/2011)

Reina de Castilla 2009 Isabelino Rosado Tempranillo (Rueda)

  • Best Buy
  1. $10
Full and sweet smelling, but also a little cidery. The palate is drawn, narrow and citrusy, with grapefruit, passion fruit and orange for core flavors. Finishes citrusy and a touch vapid; overall it shows flashes of elegance but not enough to rise above average.  — M.S.  (4/1/2011)

Reina de Castilla 2009 Sauvignon (Rueda)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $24
Pungent and grassy on the nose, with a strong nettle and green herb character. The palate is soft and playful, with pithy white fruit flavors and then a soda-like dry finish. Plump, wayward and a bit green overall.  — M.S.  (5/1/2011)
