Renard 2000 Arroyo Vineyards Syrah (Napa Valley)

Nowhere near as lush or complex as the Santa Rita Hills bottling, but still a good wine. Grown in Calistoga, it is ultraripe, brimming with plum pudding and blackberry flavors. The alcohol is high, and the wine finishes soft, with a touch of Porty raisins.  — S.H.  (2/1/2004)
