Renzo Masi 2007 Riserva Sangiovese (Chianti)
Online Exclusive
This ruby-colored Riserva Sangiovese offers plush, thick density with loads of red cherry and background tones of toast, vanilla, pipe tobacco and moist earth. It’s a well-made, modern wine that ends on a soft, velvety high note.

Plum and anise surround the berry fruit in the bouquet of this stylish medium-weight bottling. There’s a slightly chalky feel to the palate. Cherries, with more anise notes and a dry finish of powdery tannins, close this attractive value. Best now through 2002.

A muted nose of red berries and earth opens to an even palate of cherry fruit with mineral and cocoa accents. This smoothly textured, lighter-styled wine is a good choice for antipasto, served a little cool. Still very young, it should be better in six months, too.

Bulky and awkward at first, with grapey, powdery aromas. A touch green and funky at its core, but with enough surrounding black cherry and blackberry to hang in there. Finishes with firm tannins.
