Retzlaff 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (Livermore Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$39
A nicely made Cab-Merlot blend with earthy, dark plum, spicy cinnamon and clove and a touch of menthol herby-ness, especially on the finish. The mellow texture on this wine will see that it pairs nicely with a range of fall and wintertime foods.

Retzlaff 1999 Chardonnay (Livermore Valley)
Price
$16
An interesting older wine, still in current release, that is picking up the bouquet and complexity of bottle age. Aromas include ripe pear, mineral, honey and smoke, while the rich, creamy mouthfeel carries flavors of aging white wine that is still fresh and slightly herbal.

Retzlaff 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (Livermore Valley)
Price
$38
Smells herbal and unripe, with just a trace of cherry-berry to offset the green notes. Pretty thin in the mouth, too, although there’s an odd sweetness. Pretty oaky, but the smoky vanilla can’t make up for the lack of berry flavor.
