Rubbery smelling at first, then earthy cherry and stewed fruit aromas emerge. Juicy and a bit pointed in terms of acidity, so it shocks the palate and pierces the cheeks. Tastes pulsing and ripe, with big red fruit flavors, candied sweetness, coconut and chocolate.

Ricominciare 2009 Malbec-Tannat (Uco Valley)

Sweet and candied at first, with carob and vanilla aromas. The palate toughens up, and while the feel is creamy and warm, the flavors of berry fruit, chocolate and leather are clean and deep. Finishes well, with firm but manageable tannins and lasting fruity sweetness.

A bit lemony and herbal on the nose, with scratchy, forward raspberry and red plum aromas. Feels a touch clacky due to blazing acidity, but there’s good structure and definition to the palate. Ricominciare 2009 Cabernet Franc-Cabernet Sauvignon (Uco Valley)

One of the harder, more tannic wines from Argentina you’ll come across. The nose has leafy, menthol aromas that are raisiny and rooty. The palate is like nails it’s so tannic, while the flavors of cassis, prune and bitter chocolate are deep and good. Super tannic stuff.
