Silky and crisp, this Pinot plays it right down the middle, offering an immediately appealing savor, but with enough complexity for purists. The cherry, red currant and black raspberry flavors are finished with 50% new French oak.

There’s something old-fashioned but richly satisfying about this Pinot Noir. It’s a bit heavy and quite ripe, with flavors of cherry preserves, black raspberry marmalade, cola, sweet heirloom tomatoes and new oak, wrapped into a sturdy mouthfeel. A bit soft, and ready now with a grilled steak.

A little green and tomatoey, but there’s enough raspberry, cherry, pepper, vanilla and smoke to satisfy. The easy tannins and soft, silky texture are underscored by nice Carneros acidity.

Dry, medium-bodied and crisp, this wine has anearthiness to the cola, rhubarb, coffee, herb and cherry flavors. It’s a stylish wine of elegance and finesse, and will perform its basic Pinot duties dependably.

Stemmler’s record is spotty with this bottling. This ’05 is a little too ripe, soft and heavy, but the chocolate-inspired red currant, cola and licorice flavors are lip-smackingly good.

The hope for this wine is that it will age, like certain Burgundies that are deceptively simple when young. Though elegant. it’s thin and acidic now, with cola and tea flavors and a skinny texture that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. But who knows?

Soft, simple and gentle, with sugary cherry pie and cola flavors. The silky texture and light mouthfeel are wonderful, but the wine would be far better if it finished drier and crisper.

This is one of those wines where the aroma and flavor disconnect. Smells great, with inviting Pinotesque scents of ripe raspberries, cherries, root beer, vanilla, cinnamon and smoky oak. But in the mouth, it turns overly soft and sweet.
