Plush, fruit-forward and soft, Riserva di Fizzano shows a modern, confident style. The wine’s appearance already shows darker hues of aging and the bouquet is characterized by dark fruit, leather and spice.

Riserva di Fizzano is always an impressive wine, and the 2007 vintage has produced an especially generous, soft and rich bottling. It delivers aromas of bright cherry, soft spice, chocolate, pipe tobacco and a pretty flower accent at the back. It would pair with pork roasted with fennel seed and garlic.

Made in a very respectable Chianti Classico style, the wine delivers freshness, with tart berry notes and a bright, streamlined feel. Medallions of veal, grilled sausage or roast chicken would all pair nicely with this Sangiovese-based wine (with small percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot).

Ripe black-cherry aromas with cedar and clove accents open this big yet supple wine. A mouthful of licorice and plum, wrapped in toasty menthol oak, follows. Bright acidity keeps the supple texture from becoming flabby. Full tannins and tart black-plum flavors on the finish promise a great life. Best held for two or three years.

On the border of overdone, this is one intense ripe, pruney wine that carries just enough acid and tannin to rank as a crowd pleaser. Secondary flavors or root beer, pepper, raisin and dried herbs are luring, while the smooth finish is graced by leather and tea. Really settles in after ten minutes of airing.

This is an opulent, fruit-forward Riserva with plush notes of berry, spice and vanilla that add pretty shadings to the overall picture. The wine has a full, rich feel with smooth structure and very good persistence (there is a 15% quota of Cabernet and Merlot).

With its inky concentration, rich extraction and ripe aromas of blackberry pie and cherry preserves, fine craftsmanship is evident. Soft veins of spice and chocolate weave elegantly throughout.

Riserva di Fizzano is a great wine to serve when you have friends over for dinner. The color is dark and concentrated and the nose is bursting with ripe fruit flavors of mature cherry and blueberry. The mouthfeel is succulent and chewy.
