This is the Pinot that established Rochioli’s reputation, and the bottling remains a superstar. The ’05 is very dry, crisp and full-bodied, with a flood of cherry-pie filling, pomegranate, rhubarb, Beefsteak…

Lots of oak, vanilla and char aromas, mingled with cherry jam, cocoa and dusty spices. Very rich in cherries, oak and spices. Dry with firm, dusty tannins. Finishes long, rich and spicy. Full-bodied. Young, sappy, needs time. Best 2007 and beyond.

14.2%. Pretty. Char-toast, allspice, 5 spice, cola, tea, cocoa, dried cherry skin, pepper. In the mouth, a blast of sweet oak and cherry, but very dry. Rich, full-bodied, dry, sour cherry. Intricate. Fairly tannic. Sweet, cocoa-ey finish. Now - 2010.
