Ruinart 1998 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay

Rich, toasty, mature, this important Champagne is all those things. It’s certainly mature for a 1998 vintage, which means it would be delicious to drink now. But the ripeness, allied to the serious acidity and wood structure, do suggest that it’s likely to age more.  — R.V.  (12/1/2008)

Ruinart 1998 Dom Ruinart Brut Chardonnay

  1. $150
Now at its peak of maturity, this is a gorgeous toast and spice flavored Champagne. It has richness, refined acidity, a powerful concentration of yeasty almonds, a taut texture and a final flavor that is straight, true, perfectly balanced.  — R.V.  (12/1/2010)

Ruinart 1993 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Brut Sparkling

  1. $150
A beautifully matured wine, all toast and rich vanilla with a touch of currants still there, suggesting the wine has more time to develop. This is how mature Champagne should be, and is a good reminder of how different it is from the fruitier wines we are more used to.  — R.V.  (12/1/2004)

Ruinart 1996 Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay

  1. $180
Made entirely from grand cru grapes, this is a beautiful wine, layering toast and ripe fruit with a proper minerality from the year. Flavors of honey, toast and nougat soften the aftertaste. It is ready to drink now, but it has still a ways to go, as the intense concentration of fruit opens out.  — R.V.  (12/31/2007)

Ruinart 1993 Dom Ruinart Sparkling

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $130
Although not labeled blanc de blancs, this is 100% Chardonnay, bottled in 1994 and disgorged in 2002. The bouquet is intense and youthfully vigorous, carrying scents of toast and fresh limes, along with notes of ash and earth. It’s creamy and delicate in the mouth, with assertive flavors of yellow fruits and toast, culminating in a long, citrusy finish. Drinkable…  — W.E.  (12/31/2003)

Ruinart 1996 Dom Ruinart Brut Rosé Sparkling

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $295
Pale pink in color, this is stylish rosé. It has the intense acidity of the 1996 vintage, meaning that it still tastes young, crisp, vibrant. The only suggestion that this is 14 years old is in the slight toastiness. But it should go on for many more years.  — R.V.  (12/1/2010)

Ruinart 1990 Dom Ruinart Brut Rosé Sparkling

The palest of onion skin pink colors is certainly the freshest part of this mature wine. The flavors are full of mature toast and will certainly appeal to those who like their Champagnes with bottle age. With the fruit less prominent, it is left to the richness and great style of the wine to carry the day.  — R.V.  (12/1/2004)

Ruinart NV Brut Sparkling

  1. $65
Ruinart, one of Champagne’s oldest brands, produces a fresh, delicate style of non-vintage, with a soft mousse and good bottle age toast and yeast. The wine is edged with citrus, giving a fresh, apéritif style of Champagne.  — R.V.  (12/1/2009)
