Santa Monica 2006 Carmenère (Rapel Valley)
Price
$15
It’s almost impossible to distinguish this wine from Santa Monica’s Reserva Especial, but this seems to have more richness albeit the same herbal olive character and dryness of the supposedly more elevated bottling. Tastes of olive, leaves and dried red fruits, with a baked and spicy finish.

Santa Monica 2003 Reserva Especial Cabernet Sauvignon (Rapel Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$17
Not often does a 2003 Chilean wine come onto the market now, but that’s the case with this earthy, mature Cabernet. Smells fully mature and tastes of stewed plum, caramel and brown sugar, then finishes with tobacco and smoothness. Has lost most of its pulse so drink now.

Santa Monica 2006 Reserva Especial Carmenère (Rapel Valley)
Price
$19
Brown in color, with green overtones on the bouquet that suggest lettuce, celery and tomato leaf. Scratchy and dry feeling as tomato, spice, olive and herbal plum flavors take over. Dry, peppery and leafy on the finish. A mature wine that is what it is.

Santa Monica 2000 Chardonnay (Rapel Valley)
Price
$8
A sweet nose with banana, lemon-lime, and pipe tobacco elements opens to a straightforward, rather tart palate with light apple and lemon flavors.
