Savannah-Chanelle 2006 Armagh Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)

  1. $45
Notable for sheer deliciousness, the way you can’t stop at one sip but want more. Soft and gentle, with just a touch of crispness and oak tannins, this Pinot’s flavors star. Raspberries, cherries, cocoa, red licorice, cola, vanilla all mingle into some fabulously sweet confection that manages to finish thoroughly dry.  — S.H.  (12/1/2008)

Savannah-Chanelle 1999 Zinfandel (Santa Cruz Mountains)

  1. $36
Good Zins from this appellation are not common, which is too bad, considering how fine this one is. The fully ripened berry and spice fruit is married to intricate, lacy tannins, and the wine is dry. Despite the big flavors, it has an airy, feathery quality, anchored in crisp acidity.  — S.H.  (7/1/2002)

Savannah-Chanelle 2007 Gunsalus Vineyard Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $50
A well-made and complex Pinot Noir with sumptuous fruit and oak flavors, although the acidity and tannins are tough and warrant time in the cellar to calm down. It’s bone dry, with rich cherries with the chewy skins, black raspberries, Dr. Pepper cola and sweet smoky cedar wood overtones. Give it at least through 2010.  — S.H.  (4/1/2010)

Savannah-Chanelle 2007 Tina Marie Vineyard Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $50
A beautiful young Pinot Noir that shows the elegance and limpid transparency of this great vintage. Wrapped into the silky texture are complex flavors of red cherry tart, spicy pomegranate, cola, vanilla, buttered cinnamon toast and smoky cedar. Fine now, and should remain interesting over the next four years.  — S.H.  (4/1/2010)

Savannah-Chanelle 2000 Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $42
The darkest and richest of this winery’s trio of Pinots, a big-boned wine with surface flavors ranging from blackberries and cherries to cola, leather and tobacco. There’s a meatiness to the texture that makes it a perfect match for food. Feels smooth and silky in the mouth, but lacks the depth to merit a higher score.  — S.H.  (7/1/2003)

Savannah-Chanelle 2006 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)

  1. $30
Here’s the kind of Pinot that drives the French nuts. With almost no effort, California can ripen the grapes to produce these lush, ripe and, frankly, delicious cherry, raspberry, cocoa, anise and pepper flavors, while maintaining a delightfully crisp, silky mouthfeel.  — S.H.  (12/1/2008)

Savannah-Chanelle 2002 Laetitia Vineyard Pinot Noir (Arroyo Grande Valley)

  1. $25
A meaty, oaky wine with lots of cherry cola, smoke and sweet herbs. It’s quite balanced and dry, with a supple mouthfeel. Not real fruity, but complex and nuanced.  — W.E.  (11/1/2004)

Savannah-Chanelle 2000 Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $28
From this increasingly well-regarded appellation, a Pinot showcasing bright, pure and focused raspberry, mint and spicy cola flavors in a wonderfully light, silky texture. It really is elegant and creamy on the palate, and high acidity provides a crisp counterpoint. —S.H.  — S.H.  (5/1/2002)
