Sawyer Cellars 2000 Merlot (Rutherford)
Price
$34
Delicious and compelling, a huge, juicy wine of concentration and power. Stuffed with flavors of blackberry preserves and plum pudding, with layers of cocoa and spice and a sweet, tropical note of orange rind. Floods the mouth with all this, coating the palate in richly smooth, suave tannins and leading to a long finish. A very great success of the vintage.

Sawyer Cellars 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (Rutherford)
Price
$46
Pours dark, and opens with aromas of cassis and smoky oak and vanilla, suggesting a very young wine. Enters with smooth, gorgeous tannins and a rich, velvety mouthfeel that carries along flavors of blackberry nectar that explode mid-palate. This crescendo tapers off in the long finish, where the young, ripe tannins show up. Age through 2010.

Sawyer Cellars 2001 Sauvignon Blanc (Rutherford)

Price
$15
Here’s a stylish white wine that can be enjoyed by itself or wich a wide variety of foods. The spicy, lemon and lime flavors are accented by the taste of figs, and there are even tropical fruit notes. Just a little sweet on the finish, with nice, crisp acidity.
