Seidelberg 2001 Roland's Reserve Estate Wine Pinotage (Paarl)
Price
$32
Blackberry, black cherry and molasses coat the nose and palate. The finish of toast and rich caramel is a sweet treat. The tannins are fine, but have plenty of grip to compete with the gooey black fruit.

Seidelberg 2003 Roland's Reserve Pinotage (Paarl)
Price
$22
Oak is a key player in this wine, caressing purple-fruit aromas with vanilla and spice. Full-bodied and vibrant in the mouth, with moderate acid and tannins, the oak lends a hint of spice to young plum and sour cherry flavors. A warm, smoky finish of lemon-rubbed leather lingers on the palate. Will improve over two years. Imported by DC Imports LLC.

Seidelberg 2002 Un Deux Trois Red (Paarl)
Price
$22
Starting to show some age with a rusty color at the rim. Black olive and earth dominate the mouth, although aromas of red berry and some woody notes of spice and pastry shine through. With smooth tannins and a nice mouthfeel, this is a solid wine. Imported by 57 Main Street Wine Co.

Seidelberg 2004 Sauvignon Blanc (Paarl)
Best Buy
Price
$12
With a golden hue and a fuller body than many other Sauvignon Blancs tasted from South Africa, this wine oozes mango and apple on the nose. It carries through with more apple and tropical fruit in the mouth and finish, and balancing acidity. Imported by 57 Main Street Wine Co.

Seidelberg 2001 Roland's Reserve Estate Wine Syrah (Paarl)
Price
$32
Red-plum aromas mix with brown sugar and sweet leather; plum, caramel and cedar show on the palate. Rich fruit, chalky tannins and bright acidity make for a delicious, well-balanced wine. —K.F.

Seidelberg 2000 Roland's Reserve Estate Wine Merlot (Paarl)
Price
$32
Veiled by aromas of dry peat, cigarbox and caramel you’ll find black cherry fruit on the palate. A sip reveals the same, with the addition of green herbs that come off a touch bitter. —K.F.

Seidelberg 2003 Pinotage (Paarl)
Price
$13
Tart sour cherry and lemon aromas have a smoky quality, but the palate delivers a very solid core of chunky plum, leather, charcoal and spice. Its 15% alcohol is evident—the wine is pretty big on the palate, but it’s balanced. With such tight tannins, this could use another year to open up, although it probably won’t pull together any better than it is now…
