Seresin 2005 Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $21
Seresin, under the capable guidance of winemaker Brian Bicknell, continues to turn out exemplary Sauvignon Blanc. The 2005 is a great success, boasting sexy aromas of ripe peaches, gooseberries and pink grapefruit, all touched with a hint of honey. Nectarine and pink grapefruit flavors seem made for each other on the plump but not soft palate, while the finish…  — J.C.  (11/1/2006)

Seresin 2005 Chardonnay (Marlborough)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $22
Lush on the palate, with a silky-creamy texture that’s to die for, this is New World Chardonnay all the way, but it’s so seductive you might forgive its lack of minerality. Honeyed peach flavors easily carry touches of smoky oak into a long, luscious finish. No point in waiting for this to open up; drink now–2007.  — J.C.  (11/1/2006)

Seresin 2001 Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

  1. $20
Flowery in the nose, with hints of grass, green melon and mustard seed. The tangy, crystal-clean palate is loaded with orange, tangerine, nectarine and apricots. The long, flavorful finish features citrus pith, lime and minerals. If you want a combination of complexity and forwardness, this is your wine.  — W.E.  (8/1/2002)

Seresin 2003 Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $23
Pointed and crisp, but with complex aromas of herbs and mineral along with more typical passion fruit and citrus. Explodes in the mouth with flavors of pineapple, pink grapefruit and more passion fruit. Citric and fresh as a whistle. What Kiwi S.B. is all about. Imported by Pacific Vine International.  — W.E.  (7/1/2005)

Seresin 2004 Márama Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

  1. $32
This is an intriguing attempt at stretching the boundaries of Marlborough Sauvignon, featuring natural yeasts, barrel fermentation and sur lie aging. The result is a wine with somewhat weird ginger, cashew and coffee-like scents, but also some attractive grapefruit and nectarine flavors. Full and round in the mouth, it finishes dry and minerally.  — J.C.  (11/1/2006)

Seresin 2009 Leah Pinot Noir (Marlborough)

  1. $32
Seresin’s 2009 Leah is already mature. An evolved, earthy aroma of fresh compost adds a layer of interest to the pretty cherry fruit. As the name suggests, this is a delicate, feminine style, with silky tannins and restrained weight. Drink now.  — J.C.  (4/1/2013)

A bit of a letdown for Seresin, but this was a difficult vintage, and we received the samples late in the cycle, when they could have been fresher. It's still a solid Sauvignon, with classic flavors of capsicum and passion fruit, just not at the level we've come to expect from this estate. Given a choice, go for the 2005.  — J.C.  (11/1/2006)

Seresin 2009 Momo Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

A bit broad on the palate, this wine offers ample melon and fig flavors but lacks that vibrant zesty character that so often sets Marlborough Sauvignon apart from the pack. Drink now.  — J.C.  (9/1/2010)
