Shea 2000 Shea Vineyard Chardonnay (Willamette Valley)
Price
$25
A paradigm for the new, vivacious and fruit-driven Oregon Chardonnays. Rich and fleshy, with ripe, buttery fruit and plenty of stuffing. This moves into a blazing finale of fresh pear and butterscotch. —P.G.

Shea 2002 Shea Vineyard Homer Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)
Price
$65
Good, dark color and plenty of pizzazz, with black cherry and cola signaling a ripe, spicy, flavorful wine. Viscous and long, with a dry, dusty, tannic finish.

Shea 2000 Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)
Price
$42
We tasted two samples of this wne which is elegant and made in a light, Burgundian style. The fragrant nose offers lavender, bacon and faint cherry, while the mouth is racy and spicy but not overly aggressive. A feminine wine—one that won’t blow you over.

Shea 2002 Shea Vineyard Pommard Clone Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)
Price
$38
This has a funky nose, with barnyard scents of leather and manure. The wine seems to fall off in the mid-palate, then comes back to finish with some thick flavors of blackberry, black cherry and spicy oak. Somewhat controversial.

Shea 2002 Block 32 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)
Price
$48
Leathery and ripe, with the vineyard’s classic blackberry and cassis fruit. Plenty of smoky oak gives it a tannic heaviness that is a bit unbalanced.

Shea 2002 Shea Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)
Price
$35
Pungent, austere, and awkward with distracting scents of sulfur and cracker. There’s light cherry fruit here, quite tart and tannic, unyielding.
