Sieber Rd 2006 Ernest Shiraz (Barossa Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$25
Despite tipping the scales at more than 15% alcohol, this wine actually comes across as nicely structured and elegant. It's certainly not a fruit bomb, instead offering a complex array of sour plum, espresso, olive and coffee notes to go with its blueberry fruit. Sieber Rd 2007 Viognier (Barossa Valley)

Sieber Rd 2006 Shiraz-Viognier (Barossa Valley)

The nose is in a somewhat closed state, dominated by tar, rubber and olive notes. However, given the mouth-coating tannins, this wine has plenty of time to open up and show its stuff. The moderately complex palate displays appealing leather, blackberry and eucalyptus notes, capped off by a fairly long finish. Try in 2–3 years.

Sieber Rd 2006 Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre (Barossa Valley)

$25
You might expect a GSM that weighs in at 15.5% alcohol to be a big, rich, lush wine. But in this case, you'd be wrong. It shows plenty of cedary oak, tart cherry flavors and crisp acids. The intensity is there, just not as much harmony as one would like.
