Vernaccia strives to demonstrate its aging ability in this slightly oxidized, oak-fermented white that is redolent of stone fruit, mature melon, almond and pine sap. It’s an interesting wine with depth, dimension and loads of personality (albeit a style that not everyone will appreciate).

Here is a creamy, smooth, and obviously well-made Vernaccia, with pretty honey-like aromas backed by peach, pear blossom and exotic fruit. It has a crisp, fruit-driven mouthfeel and ends with pretty floral nuances.

The funky nose is hard to peg; there’s some cantaloupe but not much else is recognizable. Fortunately, good acidity keeps the mouthfeel fresh, while flavors of orange, lemon and grapefruit are a bit high-toned. Decent on the finish.

This is a simple white wine that offers clean and measured aromas of fresh yellow fruit and melon. It is light and fresh in the mouth and has a short, crisp finish.

Raisiny, with additional tar and rubber aromas. Short, flat and medium weight, with midland cherry flavor and not much nuance. Lacks character.
