A good example of the modern Pinotage style, in which the grape's sometimes challenging game and metallic qualities are well tamed. The attractive nose offers tart berry jam. smoke and tar, while the drily fruited palate shows good, brisk acidity. A touch puckery on the close, but tasty overall.

Decent Shiraz fruit here is regrettably obscured by a heavy toasty oak overlay. With less wood, this might really shine. Typical dark berry, sour herb, and leather flavors play on a mid-weight frame. The feel is tangy, while the finish shows spice, cocoa and Rhônish metallic hints.
