Sodaro 2008 Estate Red (Napa Valley)

  1. $75
The majority Cab Sauvignon in the blend brings classic blackberry and cassis flavors, as well as firm tannins. The flavors are complex and interesting, and change as they breathe in the glass. Should develop additional bottle complexity over the years, although it’s ready to drink now.  — S.H.  (6/1/2012)

Sodaro 2006 Estate Blend Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $65
This Bordeaux blend shows an interesting range of fruit flavors and textures from the blend, which includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. The flavors tend toward red fruits, as in cherries and red currants, while the tannins are quite strong. Shows an immaturity now that strongly suggests 5–6 years in the cellar.  — S.H.  (9/1/2010)

Sodaro 2008 Felicity Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $55
Very ripe, rich and fruity, showing powerful blackberry, cassis and cedar flavors. The structure is classic Napa, with firm, dynamic tannins and a fine application of acidity. Feels just great in the mouth, if on the young side. Give this wine three or four years in the cellar.  — S.H.  (6/1/2012)

Sodaro 2007 Felicity Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $45
A bit too soft, but dry, rich and dramatic in its own way, with layers of blackberries, currants and oak. If the winemaker will build in a firmer structure, this Cabernet’s score will soar in future vintages.  — S.H.  (11/1/2011)

Sodaro 2007 Estate Blend Red (Napa Valley)

  1. $65
Soft and sweet, with melted jam flavors of raspberry, cherry and blackberry flavors, and plenty of caramelized, vanilla-scented oak. Delicious, but lacks structural integrity. The blend is based on Cabernet Sauvignon.  — S.H.  (11/1/2011)

Sodaro 2008 Doti-Sodaro Block 2 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $125
Tons of ripe, sweet blackberry and cherry fruit in this Cabernet. Also lots of toasty, brown buttery oak. The tannins are thick and astringent. A bit off in texture and too sweet for the price, though. Could age well, but seems more likely to lose fruit before the tannins fade.  — S.H.  (2/1/2012)

Sodaro 2006 Felicity Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $40
Blended from all five Bordeaux varieties, this wine has fine, strong flavors of blackberries, black currants and oak, and is dry. The texture, though, is a bit edgy, with jagged tannins and bitter hints of raisins and mint. Drink now.  — S.H.  (9/1/2010)

Sodaro 2005 Estate Blend Private Reserve Red (Napa Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $65
This Bordeaux blend has some sharp edges. It’s slightly unripe, with green wintergreen notes that lend a tartness to the blackberry and smoky oak flavors. Doesn’t seem likely to improve in the bottle.  — S.H.  (2/1/2010)
