Tagaris 2006 Alice Vineyard Malbec (Wahluke Slope)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
This is a dark, sappy, saturated wine, and the power and grip of the fruit belies its claim of 12.9% alcohol. The Malbec is plenty ripe without being over-ripe, and the fruit retains a certain muscularity, along with a mélange of cherries, plums, rum-soaked raisins and coffee liqueur. Thoroughly delicious and captivating.  — P.G.  (8/1/2008)

Tagaris 2005 Red Roan Red Wine (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
This rich and round, Rhône Ranger red is loaded with fruit. The flavors pile on, one after another, beginning with citrus, banana and orange, and moving into berry and cherry and currant. It’s underscored with moderate acidity and hints of pepper and tea.  — P.G.  (8/1/2008)

Tagaris 2001 Reserve Johannisberg Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Best Buy
  1. $8
Tagaris makes two Rieslings, priced just a buck apart. The “Reserve” may be just a stitch tighter, with more creaminess in the mouth, less in-your-face fruit.  — P.G.  (9/1/2002)

Tagaris 2001 Johannisberg Riesling (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Best Buy
  1. $7
Here is a beautifully rendered, vividly fruity Washington Riesling. Crisp green apple flavors combine with succulently sweet citrus in a classic, off-dry style.  — P.G.  (9/1/2002)

Tagaris 2008 Areté Vineyards Dry Chenin Blanc (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $16
From organic grapes, this fresh, slightly sweet Chenin Blanc marries lemongrass, pear and citrus skin flavors with a hint of butterscotch. Very nice through the midpalate, then a quick fade.  — P.G.  (8/1/2010)

Tagaris 2006 Alice Vineyard Counoise (Wahluke Slope)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $28
Strawberry and sour candy flavors hit the midpalate squarely and stay there; this is a wine that knows where it wants to go. It has the appealing tartness of rhubarb pie, and the acidity seems natural and unforced, giving length to the finish.  — P.G.  (8/1/2008)

Tagaris 2007 Alice Vineyards Tempranillo (Wahluke Slope)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $30
Surprisingly dark for Tempranillo, this ripe and fruity wine has hints of barn and straw in the nose. The concentrated cherry/berry fruit flavors roll into drying tannins, with some seed tannin bitterness.  — P.G.  (8/1/2010)
