Taittinger 1999 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay (Champagne)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $180
Intensely Chardonnay, this beautiful wine, named after the ancient rulers of Champagne, is pure mineral, green and citrus fruits, a steely shaft of pure concentration. Now just with a light touch of toast, this still will mature for several years.  — R.V.  (12/1/2010)

Taittinger 1993 Comtes de Champagne Brut Rosé Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $206
This is an explosion of chocolate and cherries, lifted gloriously on an ocean of tiny bubbles. Copper colored and Pinot-scented, its rich fruit tastes like ripe cherries rolled in milk chocolate, decadent and elegant at the same time. Exceptional length and depth of flavor.  — P.G.  (12/15/2001)

Taittinger 1996 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay (Champagne)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $140
Hugely toasty, nutty, mature, this is a delicious wine. The richness of the apple and cream flavors gives way to a finely balanced wine that keeps lightness in play with intense flavors. Drink now, it is in perfect condition.  — R.V.  (11/1/2006)

Taittinger 1998 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay (Champagne)

Possibly the most famous Blanc de Blancs, this continues to be a yardstick. The style almost floats, a layer of bubbles that rests gently in the mouth, releasing great flavors of very crisp fruits and a texture that hovers between green apples and minerality. This is a classic.  — R.V.  (12/1/2008)

Taittinger 1995 Comtes de Champagne Brut Rosé Sparkling (Champagne)

  1. $204
A beauty in every respect. The nose is perfectly toasted, with attractive apple and peach nuances. The palate feel and its full-fruit flavors build into a crescendo of Champagne style. It’s clean, lusty and just the right call for a celebratory evening. Mouthfuls of total harmony don’t come often and they don’t come cheap.  — M.S.  (12/15/2000)

Taittinger 2002 Brut Millésimé Sparkling (Champagne)

With its aromas of very pure, crisp fruits, this ripe wine from the great 2002 vintage is so complete. It has flavors of dried fruits, apricots and pear, and a texture that fills the mouth with a tight, mineral character. Impressive now, it does need to age, or even be decanted before serving.  — R.V.  (12/1/2008)

Taittinger 2004 Brut Millesimé Sparkling (Champagne)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $80
A wonderfully toasty, yeasty wine, with creamed apple fruits, flavors that show some softness but never deviate from a crisp, steely character. Although this wine is ready to drink, consider keeping for 3–4 years.  — R.V.  (12/1/2010)
