Tenuta di Sesta 2007 Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)
Cellar Selection
Price
$90
Tenuta di Sesta is run by a perfect father-mother-daughter-son team and is located in one of the least-traveled corners of Montalcino. The 2007 Brunello delivers sweet oak tones that drive the initial bouquet and are soon followed by bright cherry, vanilla bean, sweet mocha and rum cake. Pretty balsam notes at the back will undoubtedly increase and evolve with age…

Tenuta di Sesta 1997 Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino)
Cellar Selection
Price
$45
Sesta is one of the wines coming out of Montalcino that manages to combine the old-world power and tannin of Brunello with top-quality fruit flavors. It is firm and concentrated, showing dry tannins that go right through the palate. At the same time, there is delicious ripe, violet-flavored fruit and balancing acidity. Drink after 10 years.

Tenuta di Sesta 2004 Riserva Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)
The bouquet opens to sophisticated aromas of dried fruit, spice, smoke, tar and licorice. This is an austere and elegant wine that should be served with the highest quality red meat. In the mouth, it delivers complexity and elegance more than brawn or power.

This elegant Brunello opens to a lean, streamlined style. The garnet color is true to the Sangiovese variety and so are the wine’s aromas of forest berry, earth and pressed flower. You’ll like the bright, soft close, with its tiny touch of fruity sweetness.

Tenuta di Sesta 2004 Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)
Tenuta di Sesta’s hearty Brunello exhibits sophisticated oak usage that translates into toast, mesquite, antique furniture wax, resin and spice. That said, you’d be surprised how fresh and lively the wine feels in the mouth. Beyond that brooding interior is a fruity Brunello with smooth tannins.
