  1. $75
This riserva shows gorgeous intensity and a beautiful, dense texture. There’s just enough softness to cushion the naturally high acidity of 2006. It’s firm, silky, rich, powerful and super long. In fact, the extraordinary length is what sets this wine apart. Age 10–15 years.  — M.L.  (5/1/2012)

Gorgeous, beautiful Brunello. Dark concentration and excellent intensity. Loads of complexity that peels back slowly layer after layer as the wine evolves. Rock-solid structure and freshness that point to a happy cellar evolution. Aromas of dark fruit, cola, cured meat, balsam, dried herb, tobacco and leather.  — M.L.  (5/1/2012)

Tenuta La Fuga 2004 Le Due Sorelle Riserva Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)

Here’s a dark, well-concentrated Brunello Riserva with notes of spice, chocolate, cola and dark cherry. There’s great plumpness and succulence here with a smooth, round feel in the mouth. Pair this beautiful wine with important meat dishes or wild mushrooms: Drink after 2015.  — M.L.  (8/1/2010)

Tenuta La Fuga 2005 Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)

This is a bright and generous Brunello that will appeal to those who prefer succulent and meaty characteristics in their wines. There are notes here of red cherry, wet earth, toasted wood, black plum and even some green spice. The concentration is thick and dense. Sweet, chewy tannins appear on the finish.  — M.L.  (8/1/2010)

Tenuta La Fuga 2006 Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello di Montalcino)

Jammy, mature notes of dark cherry and blackberry preserves open the nose of this richly opulent Brunello. Background tones include polished mineral and sweet Christmas spice with lingering accents of black pepper and crushed clove.  — M.L.  (4/1/2011)

Tenuta La Fuga 1997 Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino)

This wine comes from the branch of the Folonari family that moved out of Ruffino after a recent re-organization of the company. It is a nicely understated wine, showing great style, with new wood and dusty tannin flavors combining with smooth, modern fruit. The acidity is just too dominant at the end, but otherwise a delicate, elegant performance.  — R.V.  (8/1/2002)

One thing we’ve discovered about Tenuta La Fuga is that it performs evenly, year after year, despite climatic variations and extremes. That’s a telltale sign of good winemaking and this Brunello delivers a sure bet to consumers thanks to its soft, supple mouthfeel and lingering aromas of succulent cherry and spice.  — M.L.  (6/1/2009)

Tenuta La Fuga 2001 Sangiovese (Brunello di Montalcino)

Rich and plump with marzipan, cherry-berry, menthol, violet and medicinal notes. Some sweaty, band-aid like notes add complexity. A bit austere and stern in the mouth thanks to drying tannins, but would show well over the course of a long satisfying meal. Imported by Kobrand.  — W.E.  (4/1/2006)
