$60
This is an excellent wine from a grape few people have ever heard of—Susumaniello—with inky, concentrated extracts and intense aromas of dried currants, fruit preserves, root beer, plums, blackberry and sweet cookie dough. It’s sticky and creamy in the mouth with molasses and herbal notes over the long, luscious finish.

Tenute Rubino 2004 Punta Aquila Primitivo (Puglia)
Here is a dense and intense Primitivo with exotic spice, clove, ground cinnamon and nutmeg backed by plump red fruit and toasted notes. A very nice ensemble with roundness and harmony and a rock-solid build. Cellar the wine for at least two more years.

Tenute Rubino 2005 Visellio Primitivo (Salento)
Price
$30
The wine opens with rich aromas of chocolate, leather and tobacco and segues to black fruit, plum and ripe cherry. Great attention had been paid here to portray the Primitivo grape in a modern key and to show the potential of the grape. 4 g/l RS.

Tenute Rubino 2006 Negroamaro (Salento)
Price
$16
There’s a black, inky quality to this wine thanks to its immediate mineral notes of black stone and slate. It’s unlike most wine from Puglia that you will taste and offers a clean, direct but powerful approach.
