Terrazas de Los Andes 1999 Gran Malbec, Vineyard las Compuertas (Mendoza)

  1. $38
A saturated, deeply colored heavyweight that could win a competition for the biggest Malbec going. It’s opulent, with oak-based coconut aromas to go along with prune, maple and black cherry. Almost like Port, with blatant wood, dark fruit and large tannins. Still young and driving and entirely hedonistic.  — M.S.  (12/1/2003)

Terrazas de Los Andes 2003 Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

  1. $16
Big and sassy, with smoky aromas of barbecued meat, baked dark fruits, eucalyptus and leather. In the mouth, it’s more sweet than subdued, with cassis, blackberry and hints of chocolate. Very much in the modern style, with a plush feel and the aftertaste of coffee meeting cola.  — W.E.  (5/1/2005)

Terrazas de Los Andes 2007 Reserva Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $17
A little damp and earthy at first, but it rounds into a full, powerful Malbec with a lot of color, size and drive. Blackberry, chocolate and spice notes control the hefty palate, and coffee precedes a bitter dryness on the finish. An improvement over the past couple of vintages. Drink now through 2012.  — M.S.  (12/1/2009)

Terrazas de Los Andes 2008 Single Vineyard Las Compuertas Malbec (Luján de Cuyo)

  1. $45
A bit leafy and earthy on first take, but this also smells of roasted meat, berry fruit and menthol. It feels layered and rich, with drying tannins and full-force plum and herb flavors. This is big, dark and herbal, finishing with hints of leather, tomato and oregano.  — M.S.  (10/1/2012)

Terrazas de Los Andes 2002 Reserva Chardonnay (Mendoza)

  1. $15
From Tupungato, this is a very good Chardonnay that offers aromas of pear, vanilla and toasted bread. It’s almost Burgundian in style, with almond and white pepper accenting apple and mild citrus. Would be a good choice with fish or fowl.  — M.S.  (7/1/2004)

Terrazas de Los Andes 2003 Reserva Malbec (Mendoza)

  1. $16
. Lots of color and intensity. The bouquet blasts with heavy-metal blackberry and blueberry aromas, while the palate is rich and soft yet structured enough to avoid mushiness. That said, this is a ripe, beefy red, exactly the type of jammy, fruity Malbec that has helped solidify Argentina’s name.  — W.E.  (5/1/2005)

Terrazas de Los Andes 2008 Single Vineyard Los Aromos Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

  1. $55
This Cab is earthy and mossy smelling, with tomato, herb, coconut and raspberry aromas. It’s tannic on the palate, with oaky tasting cassis, herb and tobacco flavors. With a lot of body and power, this is a very good wine that suffers only from narrow, hard tannins.  — M.S.  (5/1/2013)

Terrazas de Los Andes 1999 Gran Cabernet Sauvignon, Vineyard los Aromos Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

  1. $38
Still hard and tannic five years removed from harvest, but also loaded with deep molasses and smoked-meat aromas and flavors. This is a thick, unforgiving wine, but the cherry, cassis and black plum fruit is masculine and gritty. Best with a juicy steak or a rack of ribs.  — M.S.  (7/1/2004)
