Titus 2007 Petite Sirah (Napa Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $36
Freshly picked blackberries that got ripe under the hot summer sun. Lots of ground black peppercorn dust. Black currant liqueur, black licorice and even a smattering of pancetta. These are the flavors of this delicious, complex Petite Sirah. It shows the big, firm tannins the variety is famous for, but they’re exceptionally ripe and fine. Absolutely first-class…  — S.H.  (7/1/2010)

Titus 2006 Zinfandel (Napa Valley)

  • Editors' Choice
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $27
A beautiful Zinfandel, softly tannic and lush, and showing how Napa Valley dominates the variety when it comes to balance and elegance. The ultra-refined tannins frame flavors of berry jam, currants, mocha, licorice and pepper. This is really a superior Zinfandel.  — S.H.  (3/1/2009)

Titus 2006 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $60
Titus’s regular ’06 Cab is a wonderful wine. Their Reserve is even better, showing a more dramatic structure of smooth, complex tannins and a more intense, fruity profile. Offers lavish waves of blackberries, black currants, cassis, smoky oak and minerals, with notes of chocolate and cappuccino. Delicious now and through 2013.  — S.H.  (12/31/2009)

Titus 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $39
Classic Napa Cabernet, rich and sensuous in tannins that are fully approachable now, with ripe black currant and mocha flavors enriched with smoky, spicy oak. The wine is nicely dry. Beautiful now and best in the next few years for its fat, opulently youthful quality.  — S.H.  (8/1/2006)

Titus 2008 Petite Sirah (Napa Valley)

  1. $36
Another great Petite Sirah from Titus. Their ’07 rocked, and so does this one, which is 100% varietal. It has the smooth, velvety texture of a good Cabernet Sauvignon, with rich flavors of blackberries, cassis and spicy Indian pudding. Brings real class to a variety that can be rustic.  — S.H.  (12/1/2011)

Titus 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $32
A tasty, toasty wine at a very fair price. It’s a tad bulky, and it’s packed with plum, cherry and coffee flavors. The mouth is nothing if not full, with some dry tannins adding necessary structure. Slightly one-dimensional and limited in scope, but what’s here is oh so nice and friendly.  — W.E.  (11/1/2000)

Titus 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $39
Shows the classic traits of the appellation and vintage, with well-ripened black currant fruit, elaborate oak, smooth and complex tannins and good acidity.  — S.H.  (10/1/2004)

Titus 2002 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)

  1. $60
Richer and more satisfying than Titus’s regular ’02, mainly due to more intense blackberry, cherry and cocoa fruit and a finer structure. For all the ripeness, the acids and tannins keep the palate stimulated for the next sip. But I don’t think it’s an ager. Drink now.  — S.H.  (10/1/2005)
