Tondré 2008 Tondre Grapefield Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $40
A big, rich, extracted wine, as Pinots from this vineyard tend to be. Not subtle, but powerful, giving a blast of raspberries, cherries, blueberries, mocha and sweet oak fruit from the start through the spicy finish. A flashy crowd pleaser for drinking soon.  — S.H.  (7/1/2011)

Tondré 2004 Tondré Grapefield Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $43
As rich and complex in structure as you’d expect in a Pinot from this appellation. Wrapped into the silky structure are impressively ripe flavors of black cherries, cola, rhubarb pie and sweet oaky vanilla, balanced with a crisp tang of citrusy acids. Drink now for youthful freshness.  — S.H.  (10/1/2007)

Tondré 2003 Tondré Grapefield Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $43
Shows that typical enormous Santa Lucia fruit that’s so massive that it just stuns. Offers gobs of cherry marmalade, blueberry pie filling, pomegranate and cola-root beer flavors, yet the wine somehow stays silky-elegant. Who knows where it’s going, but it’s delicious now.  — S.H.  (12/1/2006)

Tondré 2007 Tondré Grapefield Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $43
Shows the exuberant volume and power of most Santa Lucia Pinot Noirs, with strong, jammy cherry, raspberry and cola flavors and big, sturdy tannins, although the wine never loses its essentially silky texture. Feels juvenile and precocious now. Give it until late 2010 to begin to mellow.  — S.H.  (5/1/2010)

Tondré 2006 Tondré Grapefield Pinot Noir (Santa Lucia Highlands)

  1. $43
Polished and likeable for its light body, silky tannins and crisp flavors of cherry pie filling, vanilla, smoky oak and spice. Not an ager. Drink now.  — S.H.  (12/31/2008)
