Trinitas 2006 Pinot Noir (Carneros)
-
$27
This is a polished Pinot from a winery best known for big, hearty reds like Petite Sirah and Zinfandel. They turn to Carneros for the grapes, and the result is a silky, refined wine, rich in cherry, cola, mocha and spice flavors. Best now and for a few years.

Trinitas 2005 Old Vine Mataro (Contra Costa County)
-
$28
Mataro is another name for Mourvèdre. The wine tastes like a good Zinfandel, very dry, not too alcoholic, with savory, black pepper-infused flavors of wild black and blue berries, licorice, gingersnap cookie, and sweet leather. The feeling in the mouth is just fine, a smooth, full-bodied caress of sturdy tannins and brisk acidity.

Trinitas 2004 Bigalow Vineyard Zinfandel (Contra Costa County)
-
$28
Here’s a dry, very tannic young Zin, with exotic flavors of wild berries, pomegranates, plums, dark unsweetened chocolate, nutmeg, Chinese five-spice and tobacco, and the list could go on and on. Totally distinctive, it seems to capture a taste of its place. The vines are said to be 120 years old.

Trinitas 2001 Zinfandel (Russian River Valley)
-
$28
A fairly dense style, with black cherry, blackberry, cocoa, coffee, spice and anise flavors at the core, surrounded in toasty oak. The tannins are firm but ripe, giving good structure to the blend.
