Trio Vintners 2007 Pheasant Vineyard Zinfandel (Wahluke Slope)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $26
The ’06 was a 16% monster, but delicious. The ’07 is just as good, but swings less of a hammer. Alcohol is 14.8%, yet the wine comes across as the concentrated essence of raspberries and cherries, lifted with all-natural acids, and showing a piercing core that just keeps on going.  — P.G.  (8/1/2009)

Trio Vintners 2006 Morrison Lane Vineyard Sangiovese Riserva (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $26
This belongs up there with Walla Walla’s best Sangioveses (Leonetti, Walla Walla Vintners). From the outstanding Morrison Lane vineyard, it’s a plush, toasty wine whose strawberry fruit is matched and balanced against toast, vanilla and tobacco. The mouthfeel is generous and somehow crunchy.  — P.G.  (8/1/2009)

Trio Vintners 2007 Boushey Vineyard Riserva Sangiovese (Yakima Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $26
The winery’s very limited riserva bottling is made in a single 500-liter puncheon and for the first time features Boushey vineyard fruit. Tannic and displaying impressive mass, it offers somewhat liquorous plum and cherry fruit flavors, with smoke and licorice streaking through the finish.  — P.G.  (9/1/2010)

Trio Vintners 2005 Syrah (Columbia Valley (WA))

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $26
This young Syrah is dark and fruity, with a strong layer of Rhône-like flavors of cured meat, bacon and black pepper. It’s a bit wild and unchained, and the unexpected complexity amps up the juicy, spicy blueberry and plum flavors.  — P.G.  (8/1/2008)

Trio Vintners 2006 den Hoed Vineyard Mourvèdre (Yakima Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $26
Quite delicious, and loaded with wild berry flavors and herbal highlights, this impressive wine is almost pure Mourvèdre—just 4% Syrah was blended in. Twenty months in a mix of Hungarian, French and American oak has begun to soften its rather hard and slightly stemmy tannins. Further aging—up to five years—is recommended.  — P.G.  (5/1/2009)

Trio Vintners 2007 Tempranillo (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

  1. $28
Definitely a New World style, this tasty Tempranillo, from Les Collines vines, brings strawberry and raspberry fruit, along with chocolate graham cracker highlights. Hints of briar and herb add complexity.  — P.G.  (5/1/2010)

Trio Vintners 2007 Sangiovese (Walla Walla Valley (WA))

  1. $18
A very pretty effort, the wine’s strawberry and rhubarb flavors are balanced against spring herbs and hints of leaf. The Morrison Lane Sangiovese is blended with 15% Syrah from the Boushey vineyard.  — P.G.  (9/1/2010)
