Top 100 Cellar Selections 2011
A two-barrel selection consisting of the favorite sweeter barrel from each of the two estate vineyards. Intense, bright and focused, with candied lemon/lime fruit flavors. The power and concentration of the wine is remarkable.  — P.G.  (10/1/2011)

Trisaetum 2009 Josahn Riesling (Willamette Valley)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $24
A dry wine, companion to the winery’s off-dry estate bottling. This does not give up its fruit as some dry Rieslings do; there is a pleasing mix of lemon, grapefruit, pineapple and apricot, full in the mid-palate, then turning more astringent and cheerily tart in the finish. This is very young, compact, and still tight as a drum; it could be cellared for up to a decade.  — P.G.  (3/1/2011)

Trisaetum 2008 Riesling (Willamette Valley)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $24
Oregon has always made great Rieslings, yet few of the state’s winemakers have ever made it a priority. Trisaetum’s James Frey is out to change that, and is off to a great start. This 2008, like its predecessor, captures the complexity, grace and compelling charm of the grape. Dense and still light, it brings honey, tea, lemon, nectarine, jasmine, lime, caramel and…  — P.G.  (6/1/2010)

Done in a spätlese style, this off-dry wine is elegance personified. Complex flavors weave through the palate—sweet hay, honey, citrus and stone fruits, breakfast tea, chamomile, jasmine. It just keeps on going, while retaining a lightness and transparency that rivets your attention.  — P.G.  (6/1/2010)

This gorgeous new release, from a young winery with a Riesling focus, is resplendent with an enticing mix of flowers, fruits and stone. The scents well up from the glass and the flavors fill the mouth with a lively zest, pulling together streaks of lemon, lime, nectarine and apricot, accented with citrus rind and wet rock, honey and lemon tea.  — P.G.  (3/1/2011)

Trisaetum 2010 Coast Range Dry Riesling (Yamhill-Carlton District)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $24
A cool site delivers a wine with plenty of minerality and dry extract. The resultant density is very attractive, and adds both length and depth. Meyer lemon, tangerine, white peach and more run into a strong, lingering finish.  — P.G.  (10/1/2011)

Trisaetum 2009 Ribbon Ridge Estate Pinot Noir (Ribbon Ridge)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $45
Quite tight and closed when first opened, this needs to be decanted. Bursting with fruit flavors, particularly strawberry preserves, it brings on interesting citrus complexities (lemon verbena) as well as suggestions of peppery herb and green tea. Seems to gain strength as it rolls across the throat and into a lingering finish.  — P.G.  (12/1/2011)
