Turley 2003 Hayne Vineyard Petite Sirah (Napa Valley)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $80
What an aroma. So Côte-Rôtie, so powerful and rich, yet so refined. Masses of white pepper, cassis, freshly ground French roast, cocoa, gingersnap cookie, char, vanilla, cinnamon—and that’s just the smell! In the mouth, there’s all that and more. Dry, massive, deep and long. A triumph. 2008–2020.  — S.H.  (12/1/2006)

Turley 2000 Tofanelli Vineyard Zinfandel (Napa Valley)

  1. $32
Zippy bright in texture but also lush and round on the palate, the wine offers a fine multidimensional drinking experience. Smooth tannins support a core of cherry, spice, anise, raspberry, cedar and spice flavors, all seamlessly integrated. Finishes long and rich.  — J.M.  (9/1/2003)

Turley 2001 Old Vines Zinfandel (California)

  1. $25
Rich and plush on the nose, with hints of chocolate, plum and spice. It fans out on the palate to reveal a complex web of spicy black cherry, cola, coffee, blackberry, anise and chocolate flavors, all couched in supple, smooth tannins and finishing long on the palate.  — W.E.  (11/1/2003)

Turley 2000 Estate Petite Sirah (Napa Valley)

  1. $60
Opens with a blast of leathery bacon and saddle aromas next to blackberry and cherry, with leaner notes of cranberry and tobacco. The wine is extremely dry, and the tannins are fierce and in your face. The question is, will the wine improve with age, or just fade away?  — W.E.  (4/1/2003)
