Two Angels 2006 Sauvignon Blanc (High Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $15
Like a breath of springtime in the California hills. Hints of new green grass, acacia blossom, clover honey and buttercup lead to notes of cassis in this bone-dry, crisply acidic wine, which shows how beautifully Lake County deals with Sauvignon Blanc.  — S.H.  (9/1/2007)

Two Angels 2003 Petite Sirah (Lake County)

  1. $24
Stylistically similar to Cabernet in weight, this Pet is dry and full-bodied, with a velvety mouthfeel and big tannins that frame well-ripened blackberry fruit. It’s really a lovely wine that drinks well now and should fade very slowly over the next 15 years.  — S.H.  (12/1/2005)

Two Angels 2004 Shannon Ridge Vineyard Petite Sirah (Lake County)

  1. $30
From this warmish county, inland from Napa, comes this dark, soft, dry, tannic wine that’s saved by its enormous palate of fruit. The blackberries, cherries, mocha, plums and blueberries are hugely rich and savory. Try with short ribs or barbecued ribs slathered with your most delicious sauce.  — S.H.  (3/1/2006)

If you’re a Petite Sirah fan you’ll love the richness and power of this one, from an appellation in Lake County. It’s dry and softly tannic, and notable for an explosion of blackberries, cassis, plums, chocolate, anise, black pepper and sandalwood.  — S.H.  (8/1/2009)

Two Angels 2005 Sauvignon Blanc (High Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $15
This is from Hook & Ladder, the new project from former DeLoach owner Cecil DeLoach. The grapes come from a new appellation in Lake County, grown at an altitude of more than 2,000 feet. The wine is dense in citrus rind, gooseberry and honeysuckle flavors, and absolutely dry, with very crisp acids. It shows lots of flair and complexity.  — S.H.  (10/1/2006)

Two Angels 2007 Maycacamas Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (Sonoma Valley)

  1. $28
Rich and fruity, a voluptuous Cab with flavors of blackberries, black currants and cocoa, with notes of raisins and a nice appliqué of toasty cedar. Good over the next few years.  — S.H.  (8/1/2009)

Two Angels 2004 Shannon Ridge Sauvignon Blanc (Lake County)

  1. $15
Lake County is making a play as the best place in California for inexpensive Sauvignon Blanc, and this wine shows why. It’s dry and very crisp, with pure, intense flavors of figs and pineapples, and is simply irresistible.  — S.H.  (10/1/2005)

Two Angels 2007 Petite Sirah (High Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $25
This is a dark, full-bodied, tannic, spicy, fruity, rustic wine. In other words, Petite Sirah. It’s strong and forward in blackberries, currants, bacon, pepper and oak flavors, and totally dry. Will hold in the bottle for years, without developing complexity.  — S.H.  (12/1/2010)
