Two Hands 2005 Ares Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

  1. $150
Two Hands’ top-of-the-line Shiraz is a selection of the best barrels, boasting luscious vanilla and cedar from the oak, but also layers of raspberry and blackberry fruit. It’s creamy, lush and vanilla-laden but elegant at the same time, with a long, slightly tart finish. Delicious now, but should age well through 2015.  — J.C.  (11/1/2007)

Two Hands 2006 Coach House Block Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

  1. $120
For this reviewer to not notice the alcohol in a wine that weighs in at 16.4% there have to be a lot of other things going on in the glass. So it is with this wine, which is loaded with bakery aromas of vanilla, brown sugar, nutmeg and white pepper alongside concentrated flavors of Chrstmas pudding, ripe berries and a savory edge to the finish. Drink 2012-2018.  — J.C.  (2/1/2010)

Two Hands 2006 Bad Impersonator Single Vineyard Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

  1. $50
This intensely flavored Barossa Shiraz features notes of sweaty leather, stewed plums, black olive and coffee beans. It’s full-bodied and creamy in texture, with ample but soft tannins that glide easily over the palate. The concentrated fruit and long, complex finish suggest that it can be consumed now and over the next 10 years.  — J.C.  (6/1/2009)

Two Hands 2005 Bella's Garden Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

  1. $60
Nicely balanced, with subtle suede, cinnamon, plum and berry aromas and flavors. This is supple just to the point of being a bit creamy in the mouth, with a long, velvety finish. Approachable now, but should improve through at least 2012.  — J.C.  (11/1/2007)

Two Hands 2007 Lily's Garden Shiraz (McLaren Vale)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $60
Somewhat precariously balanced at 15.7% alcohol, this may not turn out to be the most long-lived Shiraz, but it is delicious for current consumption. The tannins are soft and creamy in texture, while the blueberry and black berry fruit is intensely concentrated, tinged with nuances of vanilla, menthol and chocolate.  — J.C.  (2/1/2010)

Two Hands 2006 Bella's Garden Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

  1. $60
A big (15.6% alcohol) wine, the 2006 Bella’s Garden nevertheless comes across as balanced and drinkable in its youth, marrying a rich, creamy texture with mixed berry fruit and hints of mint and vanilla. Avoids any cooked character, finishing long and fresh. Drink now–2015.  — J.C.  (9/1/2008)

Two Hands 2006 Samantha's Garden Shiraz (Clare Valley)

  1. $60
This wine’s elevated alcohol level (16.2%) gives it plenty of fullness on the palate, and combined with jammy fruit and superripe tannins makes for a slightly sweet palate impression and a creamy texture. It does offer waves of raspberry and blueberry fruit topped by hints of cinnamon and vanilla as well as savory undercurrents of grilled meat and tapenade. Drink…  — J.C.  (5/1/2009)

Two Hands 2007 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz (Barossa Valley)

  1. $35
Two Hands’ 2007 Gnarly Dudes is a nicely balanced wine, managing to be full bodied and supple in tannins while still coming in under 15% alcohol. Brown sugar and cinnamon shadings accent the main plum and earth elements, all wrapped up in a long, spicy finish. Drink now-2017.  — J.C.  (2/1/2010)
