UBET 2001 Shiraz (South Eastern Australia)
Best Buy
Price
$10
The nose is flowery and quite out of the ordinary. Flavors of sweet blackberry make for a ripe palate, while the finish is heavier than most, with pronounced woody notes coming on late in the game. It’s a thick wine that toes the line of balance. Yet amid all the richness there is some necessary nuance and complexity—just not very much. —M.S.

UBET 2001 Chardonnay (South Eastern Australia)
Price
$10
Offers ripe though unoriginal yellow fruit flavors, plus custardy-oaky notes on the nose and on the palate. It's medium-bodied and pleasant, but wouldn't suffer from a tad more concentration.
