The bouquet here sports popcorn and butter, but also zesty tropical fruit and apple blossom aromas. The palate is rich but balanced, with pear and toffee flavors. Warm and woody throughout, but with such firm acidity it’s a winner.

Spicy and peppery, with lots of body and richness. In a word, it’s true Carmenère. The fruit here is ripe and lush, with plenty of herbal essence, and for every drop of plum or black cherry there’s a balancing hint of green herb and bell pepper, which does not signal underripeness. The finish is tight and long, with some espresso flavor. If you’re interested in…

Smooth smelling, with pure and fresh berry and plum aromas. Very young and a bit tangy on the palate, with cherry and berry flavors and an oaky, soft finish that goes sweet then sour, and lasts for a long time. In terms of structure, it’s balanced, mildly tannic, yet meant for drinking now.

Deep and earthy, with aromatic hints of forest, toast and nicely baked fruit. Shows good body and balance, with cherry and raspberry flavors. Seems healthy and upright, with some acidity on the finish that offers boost. Clean and well built. Imported by Undurraga USA.

This wine pulls no punches as its aromas leap from the glass and hit you with a blast of spice, animal hide and black plum. The palate is amply oaked, thus vanilla notes intermingle with cherry and plum flavors. The feel and finish are equally creamy and easy, as modest tannins keep things from going soft.

Crisp and smooth in the mouth, with clean, unblemished flavors of chocolate and cassis wrapped around a core of firm acidity. Lacks the herbal notes that seem to abound in Chilean Cabernet.

A medium-weight wine, with aromas of plum, cocoa and tomato leaf complemented by flavors of black cherries and fresh herbs. Supple and smooth-textured, picking up hints of black tea leaves on the finish.

Initially the wine gives off an earthy-crusty air, and then earth and leather aromas sneak in along with black fruit. Additional fruit is released on the palate, primarily raspberry and black plum. For a ripe wine with prune and molasses, it holds its line.
