Unison Vineyard 2008 Syrah (Hawke's Bay)

On the toasty, oaky side of New Zealand’s Syrah spectrum, with plenty of cedary notes layered over plum and cherry fruit. Despite the oak treatment, it still retains a sense of freshness, and the fruit really comes through on the finish. Try in 2013.  — J.C.  (9/1/2011)

Unison Vineyard 1999 Unison Selection Red (Hawke's Bay)

The mouthfeel is reasonably rich, but this offering lacks the vibrant fruit exhibited by the 1998, instead offering subdued aromas and flavors of smoke, tobacco, coffee grounds and earth.  — J.C.  (12/15/2003)

Unison Vineyard 1999 Unison Red (Hawke's Bay)

Seems a bit uninspired and earthy. Lacking ripe fruit, it compensates by pumping out boatloads of charred, chocolaty oak on the finish.  — J.C.  (12/15/2003)
