Valentin Bianchi 2003 Particular Malbec (San Rafael)
-
$30
A big, ripe, saturated offering, the type of wine most red-wine enthusiasts want, and also the type of wine that has earned Argentina its reputation for making serious Malbec. Valentin Bianchi 2002 Particular Malbec (San Rafael)

Excellent color and dark aromas announce this wine as a major league player. The nose represents pure intensity, with tar, oil and heavy blackberry scents. Plum, licorice and more blackberry dominate the ripe palate, while the finish spreads out nicely. Very nice Malbec, but with a price.

Valentin Bianchi 2007 Particular Cabernet Sauvignon (San Rafael)

$30
Piercing oak deals aromas of lemon and graphite, and there’s serious berry fruit, herbal scents and sous-bois to go with that. Lively and showing good maturity and acidity, with flavors of black fruits, vanilla, chocolate, toast and tobacco. Good on the finish, with everything coming full circle.

Valentin Bianchi 2000 Enzo Bianchi Gran Cru Cabernet Sauvignon (San Rafael)
-
$53
It’s 86% Cabernet with some Malbec and Merlot, and the fruit is of the masculine, sturdy stock. The nose offers dusty red fruit, oak, leather and earth. In the mouth, a core of cherry and cassis is surrounded by spice. It’s almost elegant but not quite; it’s bigger than that, but neither heavy nor overripe.
