Valle Perdido 2006 Reserva Malbec (Neuquén)

  1. $20
Mossy and quite woody, and maybe even bretty, but also rich and stout, with concentration. Aromas of cheesey black fruit are staunch, while the round palate has richness, thickness and flavors of molasses, baked berries and licorice. Finishes surprisingly quick.  — M.S.  (2/1/2010)

Ultra purple in color, an indicator of how ripe and saturated this Patagonian Malbec is. Smells jammy and pasty, with sweet berry aromas. In the mouth, it’s unctuous and rich, with heavy tannins and reduced flavors of stewed berry, chocolate and jam. A warm, full-bodied wine that will be too heavy for some and just right for others.  — M.S.  (3/1/2012)

Valle Perdido 2008 Malbec (Neuquén)

  1. $15
Opaque purple in color, with a smoky, densely fruity bouquet. Feels bulky and a bit tannic, with extracted, concentrated flavors of blueberry, blackberry and herbs. Shows a hint of green and mint on the finish, but otherwise this big, aggressive Malbec succeeds.  — M.S.  (3/1/2012)

Valle Perdido 2006 Malbec (Neuquén)

  1. $15
A grabby wine with earthy/mulchy aromas, licorice and prune aromas. The palate has a balsamic character to the black cherry and dark plum flavors, and the finish is more of the same. Solid enough but it doesn’t vary much or improve along the way.  — M.S.  (2/1/2010)

Valle Perdido 2008 Pinot Noir (Neuquén)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $15
Racy cherry and red berry aromas are salinic and light, while the palate is lean and revolves around tangy, citrusy red-fruit flavors. Fresh and a little rubbery on the finish, with a tight, singular personality.  — M.S.  (2/1/2010)
