This wine does have a ¨Classic¨ Bordeaux nose of cassis, forest floor, chocolate and cedar, but from there on out it´s all South African innovation. Notes of lemon, sage and olive add to the aromas, while the palate is intense and well-rounded, balancing olive with cassis, plum with wood, leather with intense berry. Dusty, soft tannins add to this wine´s impeccable…

There’s very little to take issue with here. It’s an intense, extracted mouth-filling beauty with leather, black plum and licorice aromas. The palate is plush, creamy and packed full of vanilla and kirsch. What a ripe and ready red you’ll find in this Bordeaux-style blend; drink sooner rather than later. ––M.S.

The color is opaque and the nose is tight, meaty and earthy. The mouth offers layers of bittersweet chocolate and powerful blackberries. It’s a tad hedonistic and heavy, with all sorts of overflowing fruit, but isn’t that what most people want in a modern red wine? ––M.S.

Inviting aromas of cracked pepper, dried fennel, spiced meat and berry give this elegant Merlot from Paarl instant character. On the palate, smooth, integrated flavors of pepper and spiced meat are layered, while the soft tannins give the wine a delicate edge. Still a spin of heat in the wine; consider holding for a few years.
